The One News has learned Leduc Mayor Bob Young is scheduled to make a public apology January 23rd.
The apology was part of last year’s settlement of the class action lawsuit filed against the city by two former firefighters.
Sources on both sides of the dispute have confirmed the apology will take place at 7pm that night.
The One reached out to city officials Thursday to try and find out if the Mayor will address a special meeting of council, or if the apology will be delivered in some other forum.
A spokesperson in the communications department confirmed the date for the apology via email Friday morning and wrote “additional details will be released closer to the date.”
Meantime, the number of women who have opted in to the class action, and the amount of compensation they have received so far, remains a mystery.
Both sides say this part of the settlement is confidential, and have refused to disclose any information despite repeated requests.
